Religious Education

At St Vincent de Paul Catholic Primary School, Religious Education is at the heart of our curriculum and central to our mission of helping children to grow in faith, love and understanding.

For many years, we have successfully used the Come and See programme to deliver high-quality Religious Education, rooted in Scripture, Church teaching, and the children’s own experiences of the world.

✨ ‘To Know You More Clearly’ Religious Education Directory Curriculum

From Nursery to Year 5, our children are already enjoying the rich, creative and spiritually engaging learning experiences of the new Religious Education Directory (RED) curriculum, which is being rolled out across all year groups over the coming years.

Our Year 6 pupils continue to benefit from Come and See, with its familiar structure and deep theological focus, while our staff work to ensure a smooth transition to RED for all year groups in the near future.

✨ Come and See in Year 6

This year, as part of our phased introduction of the new Religious Education Directory (RED) curriculum, Year 6 continue to follow the Come and See programme.

The Come and See scheme is built around three key questions:

  • Where do I come from? (Life – Creation)

  • Who am I? (Incarnation – God’s love in Jesus)

  • Why am I here? (Redemption – living as followers of Christ)

Through this programme, Year 6 explore important themes such as Vocation and Commitment, Expectations, Sources of Wisdom, Unity, and Healing, while reflecting on how their faith shapes their choices and their preparation for life beyond primary school.

We are proud of the way our children engage with Religious Education, making connections between their faith, their learning and their daily lives — and we remain committed to ensuring all our pupils are nurtured to grow spiritually, morally and academically as children of God.
